Jake Allee holds an Associate Degree in Art from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa Iowa, a BFA from The University of Iowa, and an MFA from the University of North Texas.  During his academic carrier he has participated in study abroad programs in Italy at the International School of Graphic Arts in Venice, and The University of the Andes in Venezuela.  Other highlights include attending Utah State University as a special student in the ceramics program in 1999 and extensive travel abroad. During Graduate School Jake worked as an art handler serving all the Major art galleries and Museums in the Dallas Fort Worth area and participated in the construction of the firing facilities at the St. Petersburg Clay Company in Florida.  Upon completion of his formal education Jake served 9 months as a studio assistant to Don Reitz and was a summer assistant in the Ceramics program at Anderson Ranch Arts Center.  Jake has taught at Yavapai Community College in Clarkdale Arizona, McLennan Community College in Waco Texas, and currently teaches full time at Tyler Junior College in Tyler Texas. His work and writings have been published in Clay Times Magazine, Ceramics Monthly Magazine, Pottery Making Illustrated, California Homes, The Best of Artists book series by Kennedy Publishing, and Surface Design for Ceramics by Lark Books.  Jake’s work has been exhibited in 34 of the 50 United States, Cambodia, China, England, Japan, Spain, and The United Arab Emirates.  Some of the permanent collections holding his work areThe Northern Arizona Tozan Ceramics Collection, The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, The Las Cruses Museum of Art, The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, The Harlow Collection at Bemidji State University, The private collection of Robert and Louise Arnold, and the FLICAM Ceramic Museum in Fuping China.  . Jake currently lives in Tyler Texas and fires a 40 cubic foot wood kiln conducting two free workshops a year at his kiln sight attracting participants from all over Texas.  Community service activities include continuous donation of art work to local charity auctions and a holiday ceramics sale of his work benefitting Tyler Aids Services and The Make-A-Wish Foundation.
